Dear Bournville Tenant, welcome to your new home, my name is Kath Hughes and I am your Resident Involvement Officer for Shropshire. I assist and represent the views of all Bournville tenants in Shropshire. When you sign up for your tenancy your automatically become a member of BISTO (Bournville in Shropshire Tenants Organisation). BISTO have their own interactive website which is entirely designed and managed by tenants this can be visited at www.bisto-bvt.org.uk. Please log on and leave a comment or contact me or your tenant’s organisation through the forum. Because Bournville tenancies are scattered throughout Telford the website is seen as an important contact method for those of our tenants who have a computer. We must not forget however those tenants who do not have a computer or are housebound or disabled or have any other issue that may prevent them from taking part. I would particularly like to hear from those tenants and I can be contacted personally on 01952 504390 or if you do have e-mail at kathleenhughes@bvt.org.uk What can Tenants do to influence our service to you our customer? Simply put there are a variety of ways in which tenants can influence the Trust at the highest level. Shropshire tenants (BISTO) meet regularly and have also formed the Shropshire Partnership Group who meet bi monthly. They meet with us to discuss matters as wide ranging as repairs and maintenance, landscaping, customer service and budgets. Tenants also sit as full members on Shropshire Housing Services, and the full Housing Services committee. The partnership group needs more members. Please consider getting involved with this very important group. If you want to discuss involvement in either formal (meetings) or informal (social events, surveys / commenting etc). Can I ask you to fill in the involvement form in your welcome pack? I do realise that you have a lot to think about at this very exciting time in your new home. Making a difference A group of Brookside residents have recently come together to form BIG (Brookside Improvement Group). This group is led by a Bournville tenant and is fully supported by the Trust. The aims of the group are to improve the estate by working together with tenants from other landlords and agencies. They also have their own dedicated website which can be found at www.brookside-telford.btik.com
I look forward to hearing from you in 2010 Best wishes Kath Hughes
